BACKGROUND INFORMATION
PHASE1- Stephenstown Pond Project has been developed in three stages. Development work on the disused Stephenstown Pond was carried out in 1995 (it took one year), the Nature Park opened in July, 1996 with a crowd of over 1,300 people present.

Visitors surveyed suggested: the inclusion of a coffee shop so that when it rained they had somewhere to go, a playground for children, the cottage on site restored because of its cultural importance and an educational aspect that included wildlife.

PHASE2- Phase two of the project, or as it is now more commonly known as, The Agnes Burns Cottage & Visitor Centre is situated adjacent to Stephenstown Pond Amenity Park.

Restoration work started on the derelict cottage in March, 1999 and was completed in the Summer of 2000. The cottage, coffee shop and multimedia educational centre first opened its doors to the public in late August, 2000

PHASE 3- ENTERPRISE & CONFERENCE CENTRE
Due to the fact that the project was totally weather and seasonally dependent with severe restrictions on seating/space. The project management team recognised in the need to look at the development of the Enterprise and  Conference Centre in consultation with the various funding agencies who were extremely supportive from the outset.
